Research on stalking is lacking despite the popularity of this criminal behavior. This is due, in part, to funding available for this type of research but also available resources. Law enforcement's subjective review of victim's claims are not always categorized as stalking because, in many instances, stalker actions will be viewed as "coincidental" or "harassment" instead of the broader criminal act of stalking.
